Expand your teaching capabilities and build valuable multi-engine experience. A rigorous course designed for existing instructors ready to teach complex aircraft operations.
The Multi-Engine Instructor (MEI) rating is the pinnacle of flight instruction certification. At M2A Aviation Academy, we do not simply teach you to fly on two engines; we train you to teach others how to survive and thrive when one fails.
This course focuses heavily on the aerodynamics of asymmetric flight, critical decision-making, and the instructional mastery required to safely teach single-engine operations in multi-engine aircraft.
Designed for current CFIs looking to advance their careers, this program leverages the immense experience of our senior staff—pilots who have managed complex aircraft in Parts 91, 121, 135, and military combatant commands.
Teaching in a multi-engine aircraft carries a higher risk profile than single-engine instruction. We expect our MEI candidates to demonstrate absolute professionalism and rigorous adherence to safety standards.
You will be expected to not just perform maneuvers, but to analyze student errors and intervene safely during critical phases of flight, such as Vmc demonstrations and simulated engine failures.
Our MEI course is efficient and focused. We provide the resources necessary to transition you from a single-engine instructor to a multi-engine educator.
Many flight schools treat the MEI as a quick add-on. At M2A, we treat it as a critical safety qualification. Our instructors have thousands of hours in multi-engine aircraft, ranging from GA twins to heavy military transport.
We teach you the 'why' and the 'how' based on centuries of collective experience, ensuring you can explain complex aerodynamic principles to your future students with confidence.
Obtaining your MEI allows you to build multi-engine time while getting paid—the golden ticket for reaching airline minimums. Training with M2A puts you in our ecosystem for potential hiring.
Note:
This is not an initial flight instructor course. Applicants must already hold a CFI certificate (ASEL) and Commercial Multi-Engine rating.
Professional Growth
We recognize talent and hard work. For students who complete their initial professional training with us and excel as Flight Instructors, the MEI rating can be a sponsored opportunity.
* Sponsorship and hiring are competitive and performance-based. Not guaranteed for every student.
The MEI course moves quickly. You already know how to fly and how to teach; this course bridges the gap to apply those skills to complex aircraft.
Call (910) 900-8043 or fill out our contact form to discuss your current qualifications and schedule availability.
We will verify your existing Commercial AMEL and CFI certificates, along with your medical status.
This is an accelerated course. We will block out specific dates for your ground and flight training to ensure continuity.
Secure funding if paying out of pocket, or finalize sponsorship details if you are a selected internal candidate.
Accelerate your journey to the airlines without the burden of housing costs. For students enrolled in our Professional Pilot Track, we provide fully furnished, modern apartments entirely free of charge. Located steps away from our training facility, you can focus 100% on your flight hours and ground school.
The best way to truly master multi-engine flying is to teach it. Join a cadre of instructors who refuse to settle for 'good enough'.
Whether you are looking to build hours for the airlines or simply want to be a better pilot, the MEI rating is a badge of professional distinction.
Technically, no. However, having an MEI allows you to instruct in twin-engine aircraft, which is the fastest and most cost-effective way to build the required multi-engine flight time for airline hiring minimums.
For a proficient CFI who is already rated in multi-engine aircraft, the course is typically completed in 1 to 2 weeks.
Yes. While we love our internal graduates, we welcome licensed pilots from other schools who meet our entry standards and professionalism requirements.
You will train in our fleet of well-maintained, technologically advanced multi-engine aircraft (typically Piper Seneca or similar), maintained by our top-tier maintenance team.
